No matter where you come from or what differences you may have, there is something that all Portlanders old and new can agree on…BRUNCH. Sometimes I feel that brunch should be considered a certified pastime in the Pacific Northwest. The city is sprawling with places you can go most days to enjoy a good brunch.
As with most PNW events, brunch is another area where keeping it casual is king. But who said casual cant be fabulous and fun? I find maxi dresses to be a great way to stay cool, feel flirty and play up my summer style.
This Torrid dress is one of my favorite summer purchases. I opted to keep my accessories simple with a fun coral necklace to accent the yellow .
Following in the pace of Portland, Vancouver (downtown Vancouver more specifically) is experiencing a huge boom in construction, renovation and reinvention. All throughout the downtown area, new venues shops and restaurants have emerged among the once quiet area. One of these new spots I was excited to come across was Syrup Trap.
Quaint quite and simple in style, this cute cafe nestled on Main Street, makes for a great brunch spot with friends any day of the week.
Specializing in sweet or savory topped Liege waffles. I kid you not when I tell you (sorry,not sorry mom) that these were some of the best waffles I have ever had !
I opted for the savory “Couve” waffle. Consisting of Havarti, bacon prosciutto and raspberry preserve. The “Couve” comes with turkey but I substituted for the prosciutto. Every bite was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, my sweet tooth was not left unsatisfied after this meal. The best part was that I didn’t even need syrup to enjoy!
To balance out my meal I had the Steven Smith nitro chai with a shot of creamer added.
My friend’s waffle topped with strawberries, bananas and Nutella. I couldn’t resits taking taking a picture and a bite or two.
Simple but rich in taste. Warm with just the right amount of bite to balance the softness captured on the inside of the waffle. This paired with a fresh and unique assortment of topping options that encompass the ultimate brunch. If you are on the hunt for a new place to try for your next brunch, Syrup Trap is not to be missed!
